Admission Process

The Detroit Golf Club is a private member-owned club.
Detroit Golf Club adheres to its tradition of membership policies. All applicants for membership must by Sponsored by a Class A member of Detroit Golf Club.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Requests

Upon request, the Membership Director will issue a Membership Application to the member candidate.

Requirements

A candidate is required to be Sponsored by (1) Class "A" or "A-Senior" member and endorsed by (4) four other Class "A" or "A-Senior" members, all of whom have been a stock holding member for at least one year. 

Application

The Membership Application shall be returned to the Membership Director completed in full at least (14) fourteen days prior to the regularly scheduled Membership Committee Meeting.  The Membership Director will review all candidate information.

Interview

At the monthly Membership Committee meeting, the Committee shall interview the candidate and candidate's spouse.  The candidate at this time must meet a majority of the Board of Directors.  The Committee may grant preliminary approval, thus allowing the candidate to be posted to the club membership for a period of two weeks.  Comments regarding the prospective member are strongly encouraged. 

Board of Directors Approval

The Board of Directors at the next regularly scheduled meeting shall act upon the candidate's request for membership. 

New Members

The Membership Director will notify new members of their admission into membership and schedule an orientation.  Payment for membership initiation and stock, if applicable, is required at this time.  Membership will be effective and the new member will be entitled to the rights and privileges of membership after the Board of Directors approval and upon payment of required fees.

New Member Orientation

Both approved member and spouse are required to attend a new member orientation.  The initial meeting involves discussion of various club functions including the staff and committee structures, social and sports activities and the basic rules and benefits of membership.
