Kid's Stop is for children of all ages.
A Club-within-a-Club, a cornerstone for a DGC Kid's Camp which will bring together the golf, swimming and tennis activities, as well as enriching the children's DGC experience with education field trips, classes and social time with each other.
GROWING UP WITH THE CLUB
As Detroit Golf Club has grown over the years, developing from a club devoted exclusively to golf, to a full-service country club, a spirit of family and togetherness has evolved. Much of the family activity is centered around the spacious swimming pools, and tennis courts, but golf and clubhouse affairs still bring many families together. Parents join with their children to make up the enthusiastic cheering sections that encourage the swim teams in their inter-club competitions during the summer. The club engages a professional swimming coach. He and the members of his staff conduct group and private swim lessons for the children. They also teach the swim team that represents DGC in the inter-club matches. In the past, some of the Detroit Golf Club swim stars have gone on to stardom in college.
Detroit Golf Club's continuing goal of providing a place for every member of the family to enjoy has inspired the creation of a children's activity room. As a result, the Kid's Stop project is well-underway and is being funded by voluntary contributions by members of the Detroit Golf Club.
