DINING AND SOCIAL EVENTS
It's no reflection on the fine facilities of other Metro Detroit golf clubs that there is more going on at DGC. It's the club's hub location near the center of the Metropolitan Detroit complex that creates greater demand for club service.
The club continues to expand facilities to meet this demand. Today there are rooms for small luncheons, card parties, meetings; medium-sized rooms for larger events; a king-size ballroom and dining hall, a large cafeteria style dining room, a grill with an outdoor patio and a formal dining room.
Detroit Golf Club's wealth of facilities for parties, dinners, cookouts, and events of almost every size and kind are put to frequent use throughout the year.
Many private parties are held at the Golf Club. Summer formals and informals augment the summer golf and pool programs. These include steak barbecues, cocktail parties on the Sundial Terrace, at poolside and in the picture-window rooms overlooking the course; buffets, dinners and dances.
The club is the scene of many wedding receptions, anniversary parties, showers and reunions.
At one of the largest of all DGC family get-togethers, all members of the family seem to have as much fun as the children. This is the traditional DGC Children’s Christmas Party. The club puts on a special entertainment for this special occasion, and there are gifts for every child. Easter, too, is a big family day at Detroit Golf Club. An elaborate Easter Buffet is served and plenty of entertainment is provided for the children. Another favorite is Mother’s Day with the mother-son-daughter tournament and gourmet buffet as well as the father-son-daughter tournament on Father’s Day.
